When I read the news that Mitch Pileggi would be a part of the reboot as AD Skinner, I was thrilled. Although his unwillingness to step over “the line that Mulder kept crossing” bugged me in the early seasons, Skinner became a true supporter and friend of both Mulder and Scully and helped them out time and time again. I actually have no idea how Mulder and Scully will be reintroduced to the audience when the show is back again. Will they be back at the FBI on the X-Files, or will they work in some other department? Or who knows? Maybe they won’t be involved with the FBI at all, That being said, I had fun coming up with this little scenario for Skinner, and whatever the writers ultimately decide to do with them, I’m sure it will be quite intriguing.:)
How do you think Mulder and Scully will be brought “back into the fold”? I’d love to hear your ideas…
I’m still riding the high of hearing the news about The X-Files coming back, and I still can’t get David’s Twitter quote about suits out of my mind so you know what that means…I wrote a story about it! <g>
“It’s been 13 years, hope my suits still fit.”
I have no idea how or even if Mulder and Scully are going to be put back in charge of the X-Files in the reboot, but I’d like to think that Skinner would ask them to come back for some reason or another, and this is my take on a little what-if scenario if that is indeed the case. Enjoy!
When I was watching Fight the Future yesterday, I noticed for the first time that there was actually a man wearing a plaid shirt in the hallway as the “paramedics” were taking Scully away on a stretcher. I can’t believe that out of all the times I’ve watched that hallway scene over the years I never noticed it until now, but of course, once I did, I just had to write a little something from his point of view. In the 16 years that I’ve been writing X-Files fanfic, I’ve always written at least one Christmas fic every holiday season, and now that I’m officially on vacation for the next two weeks, I figured I’d better get to it for this year.:) This little moment in time just came to me this afternoon as I was sitting on the couch next to the Christmas tree with a nice warm blanket on my lap and my nice warm dog lying at my feet. Although I don’t have a Christmas cookie recipe from my grandma like Scully does, I do have a special recipe for sugar cookies that I make every Christmas…and yes, I put frosting and sprinkles on mine too.;) I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas.
I originally wrote Pieces of Food, Slices of Life way back in 2001. I was writing with a lot more regularity back then and wanted to try my hand at writing something different than my usual fare. I also wanted to see if I could write something unique that included tidbits from all the seasons of the show. At the time, season nine hadn’t aired yet so I didn’t include something from that season. With this new revised version, I not only added a segment about season nine, but one for Fight the Future as well. I thought about adding something for I Want to Believe too, but ultimately decided against it because I felt it took place too far into the future to be included with the rest of the series.
One of the things I liked about the Millenium “first kiss” was the initial expression on Scully’s face right after Mulder broke away from that kiss. Although the way she looked at him happened so quickly, I thought it was sweet and genuine and showed a brief glimpse into what their relationship might become. Like most viewers though, I would’ve liked to have seen more after they left the hospital at the end of this episode. I wrote “A Clear Winter’s Night” to show what *I* would’ve liked to have happened next.:)
A Clear Winter’s Night
In season one’s episode “Squeeze”, one of my favorite scenes is this exchange between Mulder and Tom Colton:
“So Mulder, what do you think? Does this look like the work of little green men?”
“Grey. You said green men. A Reticulan skin tone is actually grey. They’re notorious for their extraction of terrestrial human livers, due to iron depletion in the Reticulan galaxy.”
“You can’t be serious.”
“Do you have any idea what liver and onions go for on Reticula?”
I absolutely loved that Mulder was “yanking his chains” right from the start, sensing that Colton was probably going to be a prick about the case, and as we all know, he turned out to be exactly that. I had a blast writing “Tom” back in 2009, not only because I liked the challenge of writing from a secondary character’s point of view, but also because I enjoyed writing his observations about Mulder and Scully at that early stage in their relationship. And if I’m being perfectly honest, I had a blast getting the chance to *be* Tom and act like a jerk! <g>
